Diameter Determination on Restricted Graph Faminlies

چکیده
Determining the diameter of a graph is a fundamental graph operation, yet no e/cient (i.e. linear or quadratic time) algorithm is known. In this paper, we examine the diameter problem on chordal graphs and AT-free graphs and show that a very simple (linear time) 2-sweep LexBFS algorithm identi9es a vertex of maximum eccentricity unless the given graph has a speci9ed induced subgraph (it was previously known that a single LexBFS algorithm is guaranteed to end at a vertex that is within 1 of the diameter for chordal graphs and AT-free graphs). As a consequence of the forbidden induced subgraph result on chordal graphs, our algorithm is guaranteed to work optimally for directed path graphs (it was previously known that a single LexBFS algorithm is guaranteed to work optimally for interval graphs). ? 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. Sufficient conditions for a graph to be super restricted edge-connected
Restricted edge connectivity is a more refined network reliability index than edge connectivity. A restricted edge cut F of a connected graph G is an edge cut such that G−F has no isolated vertex. The restricted edge connectivity λ′ is theminimumcardinality over all restricted edge cuts.WecallG λ′-optimal if λ′ = ξ , where ξ is theminimum edgedegree inG. Moreover, a λ′-optimal graphG is called ...
متن کاملOn the diameter of the commuting graph of the full matrix ring over the real numbers
In a recent paper C. Miguel proved that the diameter of the commuting graph of the matrix ring $mathrm{M}_n(mathbb{R})$ is equal to $4$ if either $n=3$ or $ngeq5$. But the case $n=4$ remained open, since the diameter could be $4$ or $5$. In this work we close the problem showing that also in this case the diameter is $4$.
متن کاملOn the Complexity of Matching Cut in Graphs of Fixed Diameter
In a graph, a matching cut is an edge cut that is a matching. Matching Cut is the problem of deciding whether or not a given graph has a matching cut, which is known to be NP-complete even when restricted to bipartite graphs. It has been proved that Matching Cut is polynomially solvable for graphs of diameter two. In this paper, we show that, for any fixed integer d ≥ 4, Matching Cut is NP-comp...
متن کاملDiameter-sufficient conditions for a graph to be super-restricted connected
A vertex-cut X is said to be a restricted cut of a graph G if it is a vertex-cut such that no vertex u in G has all its neighbors in X. Clearly, each connected component of G − X must have at least two vertices. The restricted connectivity κ′(G) of a connected graph G is defined as the minimum cardinality of a restricted cut. Additionally, if the deletion of a minimum restricted cut isolates on...
متن کاملSOME GRAPH PARAMETERS ON THE COMPOSITE ORDER CAYLEY GRAPH
In this paper, the composite order Cayley graph Cay(G, S) is introduced, where G is a group and S is the set of all composite order elements of G. Some graph parameters such as diameter, girth, clique number, independence number, vertex chromatic number and domination number are calculated for the composite order Cayley graph of some certain groups. Moreover, the planarity of composite order Ca...
